Shanghai 20th March, 1924.

I have the honour, as asked, to transmit to you herewith

a despatch (No. 1 (1682/24) from Mr. Vereker, written on behalf of E.M.'s Minister, to yourself with reference to the nationality of Mr. Yeap Seng Ioon.

I concur in the opinion expressed that Mr. Yeap Seng Hoon whose father and grandfather were born in Penang, and who has been himself registered in China as a British Subject, is a British Subject in accordance with Section 1 of the British Nationality and Status of Aliens Act 1914-22.

In this case, in my opinion, no question of double nationality is really involved; and I have the honour to advise you to register as, and inform the Chinese Authorities concerned that Mr. Yeap Seng Koon is, a British subject, and that any notification to the contrary was made in

OTTOT.

I have eto,

(sd.) H.P. Wilkinson.
